Java is an island of Indonesia and is the location of the capital city, Jakarta. Once the centre of powerful Hindu-Budhist kingdoms, Islamic sultanates, and later the core of the colonial Dutch East Indies. Java now plays a dominant role in the economic and political life of Indonesia, and is home to a population of 130 million. In fact, Java is the most populous island in the world. In more recent years, the island had become a popular tourist destination. People from around the world can be seen relaxing on the local beaches, whilst perhaps checking out the latest Pokerblog online, or sampling the local delicacies. However, Java is still most famed for its coffee. The Dutch began cultivation of coffee plants on Java (part of the Dutch East Indies) in the 17th century, and coffee has been exported globally ever since.
